Useful
Tips

  • The inside of a letter/cabinet should be painted white for best reflection.
  • Plan 8 weeks for production and installation of your sign program.
  • Request old ballasts/transformers back (when not in warranty) to ensure new ones have been installed.
  • Warranty service calls should result in a labor charge only.
  • If servicing a sign for lamp(s) that are out, go ahead and replace all lamps.
  • Cold weather causes neon to dim.  Cold especially dims white neon.
  • Red face-lit channel letters illuminate more vibrantly with red neon inside.
  • When deciding on a sign remember your audience’s perspective and try to look at it through their eyes.

Photocell vs. Time Clock

Photocell

1.  Is mounted directly onto sign so it will react to the natural changes in lighting.

2.  Is cheaper than a Time Clock, both the unit itself and installation.

Time Clock

1.  Is located in the building and requires an electrician to run the wiring from the sign to the clock.

2.  If you lose power, the clock will have to be reset.

3.  If the weather turns gloomy, it will not automatically turn your sign on for best visibility.
